Our pond in 2003 - the first full year

January 2003

You can see how the water is freezing up, which is why we soon turned off the pump and brought it inside for the winter (storing it in a bucket of water). We were afraid so much would freeze that soon water would be diverted out of the stream. Our 2002-2003 winter was unrelenting - very cold and snowy with no thaws in between.
