I've been experimenting with various kinds of bee houses. These are houses for native solitary bees. When they finish laying their eggs, they leave. They don't stick around to defend a hive as honeybees would. I haven't ever gotten stung by these bees - even though I've spent many hours during the summer watching them. (Sounds odd, but they're pretty interesting!)
